25th March – San Domenico 20 Miler Done in 4:31:28 – abysmal performance but a nice course. You can read about my experiences here: http://diaryofadashinista.com/2012/04/01/san-domenico-20-mile/

20th May – Brighton Heroes Run (5km) Around 32 minutes (no timing chip, no Garmin) – I took it very easy as I had a calf strain.
23rd May – British Heart Foundation Canary Wharf Jog (5km) - another easy recovery run
9th June – South Downs Marathon Relay 4hrs 40 mins for my relay team, 1 hr 13 min 40 sec for my stage (6 miles) – you can read my race report here: http://diaryofadashinista.com/2012/06/11/race-review-south-downs-relay-marathon/
21st July – Dashinista and LactateDawns go running up a mountain
No more races for 2012! I picked up an injury to my foot during the mountain adventure which meant that I had to pull out of several races. My goal for the rest of the year is to rehab fully and build my fitness base so that I can come back like Kanye and Daft Punk next year – harder, better, faster, stronger.

Thanks for the follow. I love that you’re so organised. I have only one dash sorted and that’s the Bacchus Marathon in September, I need some shorter practice races though.
Thanks Dave, and thank you for the follow too
I started entering so many races because I thought that was the best way to ensure I actually did the distances in training, it seems a lot easier to keep when you have to run to a designated Finish Line (esp when there is the prospect of getting a medal at the end).
Where is the Bacchus Marathon? I did the Medoc race in 2009 – I would love to do it again one year.
The Bacchus marathon is in Dorking, not really sure where that is. But it’s fancy dress, apparently you can (but don’t have to) drink wine and there’s a BBQ (and a half marathon option).
Race the Train is a superb event. I tried it in 2010 and was pipped at the post with only a few moments to go. I’ll never forget the Thomas the Tank Engine “pishty – coo” sound behind me over my right shoulder. Good luck. If you make it or not, you’re sure to have an excellent time!
Andrew
Ahh fantastic! I would be lying if I said that the Thimas angle wasn’t a big factor in deciding to do this race
I’m not sure if I will Beat the Train – my London legs aren’t equipped for hills! – but I’ll give it a good go!
Do you have anything exciting on this year?
Wow! What a busy schedule! Best of luck on your marathon next week. I lived in Italy for a few years and wish I had been into running then so I could have enjoyed some of the European races. I got into it in 2007. I’ve got a lot of races under my belt now. Working to get my “belt” a little smaller this year. Got my 7th full in September!
Thank you very much – I’m starting to get nervous about the marathon now!
There are some beautiful races in Europe, apart from events in the UK, I have sofar only been to a couple in France but I definitely plan to explore other events over the next couple of years.
I’m really jealous of the quality of events in the US though, so well organised and the medals and t-shirts afterwards seem to be of a consistently high standard. I do have a few US events on my wish list, maybe next year
I am impressed! Being very new to this running business, I am daunted by my race that is still 11 weeks away. But I think having regular runs and races is the best way to keep motivated?!! I think I am on the cusp of an addiction
Good luck with your race, it’s so exciting! The first time is always a bit scary but you’ll enjoy it so much.
I think entering smaller events is the way to go, although if you have a look at my review of the San Domenico 20 mile, I did question the wisdom of breaking new distances in a small, clubby race environment – I think that actually scared me off a bit!
I’ll follow your journey over the next 11 weeks with interest!
Nice race schedule! If you’re up for new events, Scotland’s first ever ‘Tough Mudder’ is in July. You get to be electrocuted and everything….. I am sure my enthusiasm for having signed up for this is just screaming off the page…
Haha, you are doing a great job as Race Rep!
I will have a look at the Tough Mudder, so far for July I’ve got the Spartan obstacle course in Battersea (that’s my birthday party!) and running Snowdon with my boyfriend. Well, he’s running up and down it – I’m getting the train up and running down. Its a real blow that I’m not running up it, but SOMEONE has to carry the water and snacks safely to the top
I just signed up to the Speed of Light event at Arthur’s Seat in August (I’m doing 27th) are you doing any of those dates?
Yeah, I signed up when I was drunk and got an e-mail from them wishing me a Merry Christmas/Happy New Year. Apparently I’m doing August 11th. I hope you get to keep the light suits, it would help for a killer Tron Halloween costume. But I doubt it.
Amazing list of events. Good luck with Brighton next week will pop back to see how it went.
you’ve got quite a busy summer ahead!

I love your tagline – I’m a recovering procrastinator too
Really looking forward to keeping in touch and following your journey to race goals too
Wow, you’ve had a busy 2012. Very impressive! When are you going to post your 2013 schedule?
You must be psychic – I was just confirming some of my race entries today!
It’ll be up this week, 2013 is going to be about getting faster in the shorter races
