The theme this week is Songs That Remind You To Be Thankful in honour of Thanksgiving – Happy Thanksgiving to my readers in the USA!
First, a quick recap of the rules of participation. Every Thursday we create a list composed of 3 songs that can, or should be, added to your workout playlist. Here is the simple format:
Something Old: Songs that are at least 5 years old. (I know that isn’t too long to be considered old, but music turnover happens quickly.)
Something Current: Songs that have been released within the past year.
Something to Consider: This is the wild card category. Feel free to list any song: old, current, guilty pleasure, underground, whatever.
Keep an eye on Pavement Runner’s blog for upcoming themes and to join the linkup.
Something Old
Artist: Nina Simone
Title: Ain’t Got No
Side Note: A reminder that you can be thankful for the smallest things
Quotable: So what have I got, that nobody can take away?
Something New
Artist: Paloma Faith
Title: Blood, Sweat and Tears
Side Note: I saw Paloma Faith performing at The Pink Ribbon Ball -a fundraiser for Breakthrough Breast Cancer. A reminder that we should all be thankful for our health.
Quotable: It takes two imperfect people, to dance a sweet ballet
Something To Consider
Artist: The Clash
Title: London Calling
Side Note: I included this because I’m a proud Londoner and I was even prouder than usual this summer when we hosted the Olympics. I felt very lucky to be a part of it.
Quotable: Now get this, London calling, yes, I was there, too, And you know what they said? Well, some of it was true.
