The Global Fat Scale has been the talk of the office recently, according to the Scale I’m a resident of Guinea whereas my sister falls just outside Vietnam and a large number of my distance running buddies fit the BMI of a Kenyan or Ethiopian (although they don’t match their times!)
Where do you fit on the Scale?

Apparently I’m from Uruguay
My BMI is in the healthy range but not low enough to be from a “skinny” country
And while I thought the test was fun, I found it a bit offensive. I guess unless you are skinny it can make you feel worse about yourself..
I think unless you have a “healthy” BMI (25 or under) it can be quite depressing, and BMI is not really an accurate indication of health because it doesn’t take into account extra muscle mass, so you can have “overweight” people who are in peak physical condition!
Its my birthday in a couple of weeks, if I put my current age I get one result but my new age will take me into a different age category and all of a sudden I get skinnier. Magic!
haha love it! I found the age categories unfair… 15 to 29 didn’t seem right because your body changes so much btwn those ages..
And yes, BMI can be misleading for people who have a bigger muscle mass…
And happy birthday in advance, if I forget
Thank you
I’m so excited because the Olympic Flame goes past on my birthday – really great present
Nice! It went through Dundee (where I used to live) a few months ago and I felt a bit sad I didn’t get to see it
Glad you liked it. My wife works at BBC news and was responsible for putting that whole item together.
I think everyone I’ve shown it to liked it as well, great job!
I got Vietnam. My BMI sounds like I’m too skinny but it’s really just the way my body is. Interesting, anyways!
My little sister got Vietnam as well, but she’s still in the “healthy BMI” range – although at the lower end of it. But although she’s slender, she’s really healthy, she’s just lucky to be tall and fat-free!
I don’t think BMI is a good indicator for everyone because there are so many other factors to consider, but as a ballpark idea it’s ok, eg if you have BMI over 35 or under 15 maybe take a look at overall health!
I think it’s interesting to compare to other “skinny” countries
Yes, you are right. I’m on the healthy end, too but then there is the age factor and with 18 years my BMI will be perfect for the younger ages and a little lower for the mid-twenties group. But for rather extreme cases (say 15/35) this is a good indicator. Actually I think it’s mostly shocking how low an average BMI can be in some countries and how high it is in others.
