We’ve had such warm weather this week, while everyone else in London has been celebrating by breaking out their summer clothes and sunbathing next to the Serpentine, I have been scowling at the weather forecast and praying that we have another cold snap before 15th April.

Judging by the comments on Twitter and running forums, I’m not alone in this wish. It might sound selfish but we’ve done all our preparation for the Brighton Marathon in cold conditions, and we really don’t want to have to run in temperatures over 15oC warmer than the bulk of our training has been done in. If I was running a September marathon it wouldn’t be a problem because I’d have had the chance to acclimatise to the heat during training, but at the moment I’d take rain, gale force winds or even snow over sunshine in three weeks time.
